The problem is that Macbeth will do anything, I mean ANYTHING to get that throne. He went from Thane of Cawdor to King of Scotland in a matter of da- wait. I can't do this.
I can't believe this my last post ever in Dr. D's class. I am tearing up just thinking about it. To everyone reading this, I hope these words along with my posts throughout the year have brought happiness at times, other times sadness. I thank you graciously for all the comments and hope that everyone had as great of a time blogging as me. Thank you.
Anyway,
Macbeth has all this power, and oh boy does he take advantage of it. I think this is the most central theme of Macbeth because everything that happens in the play is because of Macbeth's hunger for power. The issue begins when Macbeth and Lady Macbeth kill Duncan so he can assume the throne, just as the prophecy said. This goes along with one of the play's themes: power corrupts. The power is the knowledge that Macbeth can do anything and he will still be king. That power corrupts Macbeth.

I agree Macbeth did let the want and greed for power get to his head and soon to his hands to kill Duncan and others just to gain the throne and ensure it. Also lady Macbeth's want for power led to her convincing and helping her husband to kill which led to her death from guilt.
